Taking care of your brushes is simple, and can save you a lot of money. Don't leave your brushes sitting in a cup of water or cleaner, this will ruin the brushes bristles. Missing just one wash can mean that you will need to buy a new brush. Washing your brushes properly isn't hard. Wash your brushes using soap specially formulated for washing fine art brushes. Put some of the soap in the palm of your hand and swish the brush back and forth over your palm. Then, rinse the brush and wash it again. Keep washing and rinsing the brush until the rinse water runs clear. Store all of your brushes so that they are laying flat to keep the bristles from flaying.
I am a begining oil painter. I was wondering what colors you suggest a beginer buy. I`ve heard students in my classes talking about how they use only a few "basic" colors, in which they can mix a large range of colors from. Do you have any tips?
