April 2, 2010, Newsletter Issue #183: What Oil Painting Colors Should a Beginner Use?

Tip of the Week

If you are just starting out with oil painting there are some recommended colors you should try before you start creating your art. You may wish to try colors that are “true” colors, such as “true” orange or “true” blue. It is also recommended that you add some other tones to your palette, colors such as green earth and a gray-brown color. Once you have tried several true colors and some other tones, you can try experimenting with other colors as you feel comfortable.
